Zendaya Stands Up For ‘Self Love’

‘Self Love’ is something we aim to promote on this blog, the idea of being yourself and loving it. Now most celebrities are all for the photoshop edits to make themselves look extra slender, tanned, bustier (or in some cases less bustier) and all together better… but is it? It may seem more symmetrical to the eye, but is it actually what we should refine as the definition of beauty?

And then comes along Zendaya. 19 year-old Disney star gone global, this fashionista was not standing for anything that meant she wasn’t being represented as who she truly is.

Screen Shot 2015-10-22 at 19.57.19 Shooting for magazine ‘Modeliste’, Zendaya did a gorgeous rooftop pose in a small leather jacket, showing off her curves and natural body… however, she was shocked to find that when these images were published, her hips, bust and thighs had been manipulated so that she appeared more tanned, slender, and ‘model-like’.

But in full courage, she took it upon herself to post the original alongside the following caption:

“Had a new shoot come out today and was so shocked when I found my 19 year-old hips and torso quite manipulated. These are things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self-love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it.”

And boy do us Moi Dolls agree with her, the original looks natural, healthy, and all together more attractive!

‘Modeliste’ immediately took down their images and have agreed to publish the magazine with the originals which is due to be released this Wednesday.

Events like this show us just how much the media changes and manipulates everything they see. Real true beauty struggles to be promoted, and unfortunately is normally only done when something like this happens, and we have to fight for it.
